The fact that the Man Utd - Arsenal game this weekend was billed as the ‘game of the decade’ surprised me. I am not ashamed to say that I thought the game was a no contest Arsenal were unbeaten in 49 league games and Man Utd have not quite been firing on all cylinders this season. But football just doesn’t work like that…
The thing that’s annoying me is the sour grapes coming out of highbury after their first defeat in a year and a half. Wenger immediately went on the offensive blaming the referee for the loss, sorry Wenger but your side managed only one shot on target in 90 minutes, this was surely more of a contributing factor to the loss.
Now I agree United battled their way through this game but who could blame them? Arsenal are as I’ve said supreme, you let them play their football and you WILL get beat. Maybe Man U simply refused to do what everyone else had done and stand and watch the gunners play football. Maybe too many teams, especially recently, have respected what Arsenal have achieved and forgot to play football.
If this has been the case this result may mean the premiership is open to all comers again, we shall see.
