So now it’s time to stop messing about.

I’ve set myself an ultimatum. I have 6 months to get serious about web design or give it up and find a new hobby!

What this means is that in 6 months time I needs to have a full working web design site, this means a name, a logo, a complete site with no dead ends and no style issues. I need the same for this site and for agamecalledfootball.com

If by May 1st 2009 I don’t have these things, then that’s it for me with design. It doesn’t mean I won’t geek, I think I would need that bit surgically removed. I just won’t bother designing anything. I’ll stick a standard template on yerohs and have done with it.

With the desire for a new little shiny thing eating away at me I’ve been puporsfully avoiding the O2 shop in town. I thought I only had 2 months left on my contract so I faced 2 months of inner turmoil, one half telling me to hold on until it ends and the other (the half that usual wins these types of things) telling me it’s only 2 months, the overlap won’t matter.

Thankfully i haven’t been near an O2 shop yet as It turns out I had my dates completely wrong, my contract has 5 months to run yet and not even my gadget hungry half can justify that kind of waste.

So the iphone is on hold and maybe nokia or google have time to come up with something else to impress me.

That was until i paid a visit to curry’s last week and spotted the Advent 4211. For those that don’t know it’s a clone of the MSI Wind. But I liked what I saw. The unhelpful store assistant had to go away to find out it’s wait despite it been written on the sticker attached to the display model but was helpful enough to inform me that they had none in stock. At the time this actually felt like it might have been a good thing, the delay allowing me time to check up on a model I had largely been oblivious to. of course once i got to read the positive comments that most people had made about the Advent it no longer seemed like such a good thing. A little searching around the DRG groups web sites and I discovered there were some in stock at PC World in Leeds so I reserved it and picked it up the following day.

It turns out the MSI Wind in a different outfit is a fantastic piece of kit. The 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor supported by the 1Gb of RAM seem more than capable at handling anything I’ve thrown at it so far. The 3-cell battery keeps the wait of the overall unit down but still provides me with the 2 hour battery life I need to travel to York and back everyday. The specs are in fact identical to the latest rumours of the Dell machine, rather than these details suggesting the Dell is getting closer it adds more weight to the fact that it has been completely made up. With details of currently available mini-laptops having a Dell badge slapped on them.

Regardless I’m going to stick with my Advent, which for those of you who a keeping track is named Artemis.

The problem is ‘THEY’ are the same people who I’ve listened to when deciding whether or not to take a coat and often getting wet after leaving it home. ‘THEY’ are the same people that have told us we’ve received a normal amount of rain for August. Strange I don’t ever remember the Races at York being abandoned completely because of flooding?

We can just wait and see, I don’t hold out much hope though.
